Team Report – #589S
| Location: | North Africa (Sahara) |
| Date: | Jan 18-Feb 2 2008 |
| Sending Partner: | STEM Share (Mixed ages) |
In a dry Sahara land where following Jesus is costly, God gave us a team that was bold, full of compassion, good at relationships and loved to pray. A wonderful, potent combination!
• God opened the way to share the whole Gospel story with a family of date farmers in a desert oasis — previous teams have prayed for this family to hear the good news. We believe part of the reason they were open to listening is that a previous STEM Share team prayed for a family member — whom they said was healed.
• Our host was able to share the Gospel with our camel drivers as they led the camels we were riding.
• Awesome worship on a mountainous sand dune shortly after sunset!
• We met, shared about the Lord, and prayed for two British motorbike adventurists who stayed in the same remote hostel.
• Shared the Gospel through word and deed with our Muslim driver — He had plenty of exposure to us day and night for four days, witnessing our prayers, worship, interaction with each other and locals! Our host gave him an audio copy of the Jesus film in his language at the end of our desert travels.
• A doctor on the team ministered to medical needs in a desert/oasis village and then the team spontaneously prayed for those and other needs in the name of Jesus. We did sense that a welcome had been opened in this village for Jesus!
• We had powerful times of intercession and worship at the newly established House of Prayer in the capital city.
• We shared communion with a local believer — one who is brave in sharing the Good News with others, despite the risks involved.
• We played with and loved-on mentally handicapped young people — a new ministry in this country.
• English conversation classes at the national university and also at private English center: We enjoyed the students and planted seeds of the Good News.
