Inner City Prayer and Outreach to Muslim Community
A new field is now ready for harvest right in Minneapolis. Did you know that there are 86,500 Somali Muslims who live in the United States and very few have had the opportunity to know Jesus Christ? Minneapolis has the largest Somali population in the U.S. (50,000 with 99% Muslim). In 1990 there were 3 Islamic mosques in the Twin Cities… today there are 49!
You now have an amazing opportunity to have an impact on the Muslim world without leaving the United States.
A guided orientation to the Somali culture and strategies to introduce Muslim people to Jesus Christ will be part of this short-term mission. Besides a guided tour of the city and exposure to the diverse people groups living there, you will:
- Participate in the S.A.L.T. Program (Somali Adult Literacy Training)
- Interact with Muslim people and share the hope and light of Jesus
- Prayerwalk in strategic places around the city
- Enjoy ethnic foods at local restaurants
- Step out of your comfort zone
- Gain a love and burden for Muslim people!

Cost
There is an initial $20 non-refundable application fee. Housing, meals (a few at ethnic restaurants) and travel around the city for this 7 day mission is $275. This fee also includes training, pre-field , on field and post field as well as administration costs. Participants will need to bring their own money for souvenirs, and personal items. All fees paid to STEM Int'l are tax-deductible.
Training
Pre-field training includes educational materials, and a Team Training. On field orientation and debriefing will be done in Minneapolis.
Team Make-Up
Team language is English. Minimum of 6, maximum of 12. STEM Share staff will provide around-the-clock leadership and assistance.
Meals and Accommodation
Good quality restaurants have been selected for evening meals. Breakfast will be made by the team at Urban Ventures. Sack lunches will be provided each day.
Special Requirements
This team is designed for committed Christians, motivated to pray, and who have a genuine interest in Muslims. Team members should be in good health for some non-strenuous walking and be able to sleep on floor mattresses.
