Making it Count Short Term Missions. Long Term Results!

STMLC 2010 Plenary Speaker

Brian Heerwagen

Brian Heerwagen (see Brian’s bio), Executive Director of Delta Ministries and primary author of The Next Mile Short Term Missions Curriculum will serve as one of our primary STMLC 2010 plenary speakers.

Making it Last is something that all missions leaders and coordinators want to happen from their missions trip. For the impact to continue long after the trip has ended, both with the field and with the team members. Very few churches and organizations have been given the tools necessary to make sure the impact of the short term trip will continue on long after the trip. One of the leaders in the field of eliminating this post-field 'black hole' is Brian Heerwagen.

Brian's book series and curriculum, The Next Mile: Short Term Missions for the Long Haul, has become a widely used how-to ‘handbook’ for thousands of people involved in doing short term missions with excellence.

At the STMLC, Brian will help us learn:

  • how to design your STM's for the "long haul"

  • how to eliminate typical road blocks to effective follow-through

  • how to decide "how much follow-through" for each of your STMers

  • how to work smarter, not harder

STMLC 2010 Plenary Speaker

Dr. Stephen KabachiaDr. Stephen Kabachia, Ph.D. (see Dr. Kabachia’s bio), will serve as one of our primary STMLC 2010 plenary speakers.

Mutual Design is Standard #3 of the “U.S. Standards of Excellence in Short-Term Mission.” Yet remarkably few people really understand what it even means. Dr. Kabachia will share from the unique perspective of the short-term missions team host, just what it means to truly create a missions experience that is mutually beneficial for both the team and the field.

Dr. Kabachia has hosted dozens of short term missions teams and has a unique and exciting way of advancing God's Kingdom directly through these teams. Don't let your missions team be just another 'thing to do' for your missionaries and hosts. Become the team that will project their ministry to the next level. Become the teams that they talk about years down the road. Hear the in's and out's of the host perspective from Dr. Stephen Kabachia, Ph.D.

At the STMLC, Dr. Kabachia will help us learn:

  • how to truly understand the vision and goals of the field

  • how to create/train the best team possible from a field host perspective

  • how to select/prepare the best team leader(s) possible from a field host perspective
