Everyone Who Does Mission Trips Needs to Attend! The Short-Term Mission Leaders’ Conference (STMLC) is an annual training event open to North American church, school, and agency goers, leaders, and those who train, organize, or supervise Christian short-term mission trips. And if you have a short-term mission program at your church, or you desire to get one started, or you simply want to learn how to lead short-term mission teams with excellence, this is an event you won’t want to miss!
2008: Apr 17–19 STMLC features…

This was the best conference I’ve ever been to. I appreciated the “simple” environment — no money spent on glossy or glitz . Thank you! Thank you for having knowledgeable and respected/known speakers... STEM has been added to my Monday prayer list! We’ll send others from our team next year. —2007 STMLC attendee

Although you cannot use this online form to register for any other SSET events, the April 2007 STMLC will host other groups that come one day early to do their own private, specialized training unique to them as a sending entity (for example, the North American Baptist mission trip leaders set up their own 1-day specialized training prior to the STMLC). Contact the Conference Coordinator Dana Bromley at dbromley@STEMintl.org to see about setting up your group’s own SSET at the April 2007 STMLC. Groups pay for room set-up and meals; you have the option of taking your meals at the campus cafeteria if confirmed in advance.

Overnight Housing
We’ve negotiated a discounted daily room rate of $89 (plus 13.5% tax) with the Country Inn & Suites (Bloomington-West). This hotel is located 6 miles north of Bethany Church and College of Missions, the site of the Conference. This is the only hotel providing complimentary shuttle service mornings and evenings to and from the Conference. You will have the option of registering on-line with this hotel immediately after completing the on-line Conference Registration Form (or at any other time you choose by clicking http://www.countryinns.com/bloomingtonmn_west , or call 800-395-7787). You must specify the special promotion code “STEM1” ("STEM" and the single digit “1”) to obtain our special discounted rate.
* * * IMPORTANT HOUSING NOTE: Sorry! — when this hotel fills up (which is likely), you will need to make your own reservations elsewhere (there are 4 other hotels in the immediate area of I-494 and Highway 100/Normandale; and other hotels along I-494 closer to the MSP airport); note that costs at these other hotels will likely be much higher; and that these other hotels will NOT be providing daily transportation to/from the Conference hosting site at Bethany College of Missions (you'll need to have a rental car).
STMLC Programming
The STMLC uses a combination of:
- Large group sessions
- Medium-sized group interactive workshops
- Small group discussions
- Spontaneous (but intentional) “hallway and meal-table discussions”
The STMLC is teeming with wisdom, experience, tools, ideas, and information you need for an effective mission trip program. Each day is intense, interactive, and packed to capacity with the conference program (so get plenty of rest at night!).
- Large group sessions also include times of worship and devotional teachings.
- An on-site Conference Bookstore sells a variety of excellent short-term mission books and resources at discounted prices.
- Several exhibitors & displayers (that specialize in some aspect of short-tem mission) will also be present to answer questions about the products or services they offer.
- Great prizes will be given away! (books, t-shirts … and maybe even some free airline tickets??)
Exhibitors & Notebook Advertisers
Does your group or organization have a product, resource, or service that supports people and organizations that do short-term mission trips? If so, you need to know that many STMLC attendees are looking for such resources! Your participation as an STMLC Exhibitor or Notebook Advertiser is a very important part of this conference. Find complete Exhibitor & Advertiser Information here.
